Student Products Guidelines Verbal: Oral Report • Your assignment is to write a book report of a book you are reading /have read. • Choose and complete a graphic organizer (you will be able to choose from five different ones). • Draw an illustration of your favorite part • Mount your book report and your graphic organizer side by side on the piece of construction paper you were provided. • Make sure you turn in the rubric for the book report along with your graphic organizer. • Be ready for your oral presentation on the scheduled date. Puppet Show • Your assignment is to create a puppet and give a book report about a book you are reading/have read. • You cannot buy anything to make your puppet. • Choose any of the materials I have provided. • Choose and complete a graphic organizer (you will be able to choose from five different ones). • Practice your puppet presentation at home. • Make sure you turn in the rubric for the book report along with your graphic organizer. • Be ready for your oral presentation on the scheduled date. Commercial • Your assignment is to create a commercial and give a book report about a book you are reading/have read. • Remember that the purpose of your commercial is to persuade your classmates to read this book. • Choose and complete a graphic organizer (you will be able to choose from five different ones). • Practice your commercial presentation at home. • Make sure you turn in the rubric for the book report along with your graphic organizer. • Be ready for your oral presentation on the scheduled date.
Visual Flipbook • Your assignment is to create a flipbook in class with four national symbols and 4 state symbols. • Use the paper provided by your teacher (you will be able to choose the color of paper). • Write the type of symbol on the top flap. • Write what the symbol stands for on the inside of the top flap. • Draw or bring from home computer pictures for each of your symbols on the inside. • Your handwriting has to be legible. • Your drawings have to be colored. • You will have to be finished on or before the proposed date. • Make sure you write your name and date on each of the corners of the paper. Poster • Your assignment is to create a poster in class with four national symbols and 4 state symbols. • Use the paper provided by your teacher (you will be able to choose the color of paper). • Title your poster “National and State Symbols. • Draw or bring from home computer pictures for each of your symbols. • Label each symbol with “National” or “State” Symbol. • You will have to be finished on or before the proposed date. • Make sure you write your name and date on one of the corners of the paper. The questions will be about our topic of study of the month. 3. You will be given a timer to keep track of your time, a sheet with the questions, the number of points each question is worth, and a map of the school with the places for possible answers. 4. Make sure you have your pencils sharpened, and write the name of your team members on the top. 5. You may not ask any teacher or any other school staff member for the answer! They have been instructed not to help you. 6. After you receive the clues, read them carefully and use the map to decide which path you will follow in order to find your answer quicker. 7. Guidelines--Propaganda Poster 1. Target audience-women, mothers, young men 2. Large picture, hand-drawn 3. Stenciled or hand-drawn block letters 4. Message short & to the point--dramatic phrases used to outrage/inspire military & civilian volunteers to sacrifice materially, emotionally, and financially to win the war (WWI)
Guidelines--News report 1. Teams 2-3 2. Each student required to research and type a script that will be presented on the due date. 3. Computer-generated/hand-drawn visuals for each segment of the report--must be visible from back of the room. 4. Presentation--use period music (instrumental) during report, speak loudly, have good eye contact with your audience, "own" your presentation!
Guidelines--Original Song 1. Compose an original song to include the 44 Presidents of the United States of America, their sequential number and the years they served as President. 2. Song must be arraigned in 4 equal segments/movements (11 Presidents each). 3. Song can be used by students to replace teacher-generated song.
Guidelines--Photo Essay 1. Individually, TLW compose a PowerPoint/PhotoStory or displayed pictures dealing with the Dust Bowl of the 1930s. 2. Photos have no captions, the student will give an introduction, discuss each photo using note cards and answer questions from the teacher/student audience. 3. Presentation & PowerPoint/PhotoStory/display are scored 50/50.
Guidelines--Comic Strip 1. TLW hand-draw a comic strip explaining why the United States of America should enter WWII on the side of the Allies. 2. Strip must include images that represent the Axis Powers (primarily Germany, Italy, Japan). 3. Poster board must be used as a display. 4. Display/presentation are weighted 50/50. 5. For maximum points, TLW must "OWN" their presentation (deliver a convincing, animated presentation and be able to answer questions from students & teacher.
Guideline for a flip book (visual) 1. Select a pre- cut flip book. 2. Choose 4 letters in your first or last name. 3. Write the capital letter for the 4 letters you chose and put them on the front of the 4 flaps. 4. Put the lower case letter on the inside of the flap to match the upper case letter. 5. Cut out or draw a picture that begins with the letters that you chose and put them on the inside of the book under the matching letter. 6. It should be done in your own handwriting. 7. Be sure to color the pictures that you draw. 8. Put your first and last name on the back.
Guideline for a Collage (tactile) 1. Select a large sheet of construction paper. 2. Use your own handwriting. 3. Label the top: Nouns 4. Fold the paper in half. 5. Label the 1st section: People 6. Label the 2nd section: Places 7. Find, cut out and neatly glue pictures of at least 5 people and 5 places to put under the correct title. 8. Label each picture in your best handwriting. 9. Write your 1st and last name on the back.
Guideline for a Biography (written & oral) 1. Chose 2 famous Black Americans from the list provided. 2. Using the computer or books from the school or class library, find at least 5 interesting facts about the 2 people you chose. 3. Use a copy of a Venn Diagram. 4. Write the five facts about your 1st person in the left circle. 5. Write the five facts about your 2nd person in the right circle. 6. Now, write 2 things that are the same about the people in the middle section. 7. Be prepared to orally share 1 fact about each person to the class. 8. Use your best handwriting. 9. Write your 1st and last name on the back.
Timeline Guidelines 1. Include at least 10 events. 2. Use 11” x 17” paper for the timeline, and cut it in half length wise. 3. Make sure all events are in order by date or year. 4. Write the event at the top of the paper. 5. Draw a picture below each event that illustrates what the event is.
Poem Guidelines 1. Create a rough draft of a poem about (the theme). 2. Be sure to have a creative title for the poem. 3. Make sure there are at least 5 sentences. 4. Write the final draft of the poem on blank white paper. 5. Create a border around the paper that illustrates the poem.
Collage Guidelines 1. Carefully cut out pictures from magazines or newspapers that describe (the theme). 2. Use a large sheet of white or colored construction paper. 3. Glue the pictures in a creative way on the paper. 4. Leave as little white space as possible. 5. Write a descriptive paragraph on a sheet of notebook paper about the collage.
Book Cover Guidelines 1. Choose a book that was recently read at home or school. 2. Use a sheet of white paper. 3. Front cover – title in a creative, colorful way, author, picture illustrating the story. 4. back cover – rating of the book, summary without including the end of the story. 5. Name somewhere on the back.
Cartoon Guidelines 1. At least 5 pieces 2. Illustrate each piece. 3. Use speaking bubbles or thought bubbles. 4. Title for the cartoon. 5. Written piece explaining the cartoon.
Mobile: •Create a mobile that depicts what you have learn about the Day of the death •Materials: limit spending to 3 dollars maximum •Use recycled materials •Size: no bigger than 4 feet, no smaller than 1 feet. •Topic: the designs to be used needs to be meaningful, not just objects hanging from a string. •Description: Each project needs to have a written description explaining what inspired the mobile, and what can be seen on it. •This is a team project: maximum 2 students per group.
Brochure: •Create a brochure that advertises why to visit one specific Spanish speaking country (assigned by teacher). •This is not a black and white design, it needs to be colorful. •Choose any technique: from drawing, printing, or collage. •Use letter size paper. •Use both sides of the brochure. •Brochure can be computer created or handmade. •It needs to include: a map, the flag, reasons to visit that country, and 3 unique things about that country. •This is an individual project. •Use the internet to complete your country research and include the sources used for the project. •Can be in standard three-fold design or some other creative format. Remember, you want people to visit this site. Tell facts, show photos, drawings, and charts.
Role Play: •Create a role play about booking a room in a hotel •Use a maximum of 2 characters •Spanish needs to be spoken during the whole role play •No mnemonics during the presentation •The role play needs to last at least 3 minutes •Make sure to include: dates, costs, type of room (e.g. smoking, how many guest, kitchen, etc), payment options, pick up from hotel, and meal plans. •This is a team project: maximum 2 students per group.
Board game: •Contrasting colors and original graphics need to be use to give the cards and gameboard visual appeal. •Rules need to be written clearly enough that all could easily participate. •The game should be design for 4 players •All the vocabulary from the Spanish speaking countries unit should be used •A description of the game's effectiveness both in terms of learning and motivation •A reflection on the process you went through in designing the game •The name of the game •Educational objective •Time required •A description of the game's effectiveness both in terms of learning and motivation •Do not spend more than 5 dollars on the making of the game board. •Dimensions: 20 inches X 20 inches •Use Spanish only! •This is a team project: maximum 3 students per group.

Include name and class period on the CD. •Students are expected to use their creativity in designing a choreography to go with their song. •Dressing up is not part of the project; however bonus points will be given to teams opting for it. •This is a team project: maximum 3 students per group. •Limit the song to a maximum of 3 minutes.

Note: We give our students numbers at the first of the year that helps us organize their papers for inputting grades, etc. This is the number we require them to include with their name, or their homeroom teacher's name.
SECOND GRADE: CHART OF WATER CYCLE: Size: no larger than regular poster Circular diagram to reflect cycle All components labeled and illustated by student At least one sentence explanation for each component. Neatness counts Name on back
TIMELINE: Size: 1/2 poster cut in half lengthwise (rectangular "hot dog") Line must be drawn with ruler and time segments must be evenly spaced. Time segments must be labeled clearly. Heading/title required that tells what timeline represents. May use photographs, magazine cut-out, or drawing. Explanation of event may be printed or a computer printout. Name on back Neatness counts!
GREETING CARD FROM ONE FICTIONAL CHARACTER TO ANOTHER: White paper 8 1/2 X 11 folded in half (either way of folding acceptable) Front of card must be illustrated by student. Illustration must relate to character. Both halves of inner card must be used for greeting. One of the halves may be an illustration by the student. The greeting card must be signed by the character. Student's name must be on back of card. Details from story must be present.
PUPPET: Puppet must be character from designated fiction. Money limit: 3 dollars Needs movable mouth so that it can "speak" Written piece required showing how the puppet is like the chosen character.
ORIGINAL SONG: All words must be appropriate for school. All words must be spoken clearly so that others may understand them. Lyrics must inform and relate to topic. May be a rap but must be consistent rhythm. Rhyme pattern must be present. May include dance.
Before you post your product guidelines, look over the criteria - remember their purpose is to use the same guidelines through out the school year (even team teachers should be able to use these guidelines with their contents). Meaning that a song is a song whether it is used this week to reinforce what is being taught or used in 4 months with new content - the guidelines would not change. The goal of these guidelines is to save you time over the year since you only need to change content as you go. Hope that helps!

Guidelines for a label drawing: 1. Use a large piece of construction or butcher paper. 2. Drawing can be made using crayons, or markers. 3. Drawing must fit size of paper. 4. Color neatly and label each part of the picture correctly and be prepared to share and tell about picture and labels. 5. Write your first and last name neatly on the back of the paper.

Guidelines for a Collage:
1. Choose a large piece of colored construction paper or poster board. 2. Title must be written neatly at the top using crayons, markers, or colored pencils. 3. Find and cut out as many words and pictures as you can that tell about the title of the collage. 4. Cover as much of the paper as you can with pictures and words. 5. Share with class. 6. Write your first and last name neatly on the back of the paper.
Guidelines for a Mobile:
1. Wire or plastic hanger, yarn and pre-cut shapes provided by teacher. 2. Use large pre-cut shapes with holes already punched to attach to hanger and connect shapes. 3. Each connecting shape must tell about the first shape that it is attached to. 4. Tie shapes to hanger and connect with yarn. 5. Write your first and last name on the back of one of the shapes.
Guidelines for a Bubble Map:
1. Use a large piece of colored construction paper and choose a different color of pre-cut circles provided by the teacher 2. Glue the correct number of circles on the construction paper to show describing parts. 3. Draw straight lines from the center circle to the outer circles. 4. Write the word to tell what is being described or draw a picture of it in the middle using crayons, markers, or colored pencils. 5. In the outer circles draw pictures, use pictures provided by teacher or cut from a magazine and glue on circles 6. If describing a life cycle, number from right to left to show order from beginning to end. 7. Write your name neatly on the back of your paper.
Timeline Guidelines Students are creating a timeline. They will follow the following criteria: 1. A clear title, they will make a timeline of themselves. 2. Timeline intervals of time are in even segments, e.g. segments are 5cm apart and equal 7 years. 3. Years or times are to be clearly identified. 4. Text attached to important dates is to be brief, topical and to the point. 5. Pictures can be used to re-enforce information 6. Keys can be used to have other important information not 7. able to be put on the exact date. 8. Colour is important. 9. Line that dates are placed on must be straight and the 10. date indicators must be clear.
Poem Acrostic poem 1 Use letters in a word to start a new line of poetry. The text will describe the word. 2 Select a word as your acrostic poem theme word. Write the word vertically along the left side. 3. Come up with a phrase related to the theme word that begin with each letter of that word. Write each word or phrase next to the theme word letter. 4. Be creative and decorate your acrostic, do i ton cardboard, paper, etc. Use your creativity! 5. Students will present their acrostic poem to the class.
Flipbook 1. Read the book “I spy in the Garden” and “I spy on the Farm” 2. Fold paper to create a house. 3. Take a tripa round your house and spy things for an “I spy in my House” book. 4. Write what you spy in your book. Choose a letter for each room of your house and list the things in that room that begin with that letter. 5. Read your book to a partner/family. Flip book steps: 1. Fold the paper in half 2. Fold the sides into the center 3. Open each side and push down the top of the fold until it looks like a dormer on each side.
Collage Book “The Glerp” 1. Read the book 2. Reread the book. Name all the things the Glerp eats 3. What are your favorite things to eat? Ask your family what their favorite things to eat are. What is your favorite thing in each food group? 4. Look through old magazines. Cuto ut pictures of your favorite things toe at in each food group. Glue them onto the Food Group Collage. 5. Awesome word Chart Book: Even if I did Something Awful 1. Read the book 2. Look back into the book and find all the words with the aw vowel blend. Is the aw vowel blend in the inital (awful), the medial (crawl), or the final (saw) part of the word? Can you think of any other words with that vowel blend inside it? 3. Bring tthem down on the Awesome Words Chart 4. Extension: Try listing words with these sounds inside the word: OW, IG, ET, AT, UG
Use 4-5 sheets of paper. Lay them on top of each other with 1/4 - 1/2 inch overlap. Fold the sheets down from the top. If you need more pages, you can cut all of the pages in half except the top and bottom cover. Then set up you booklet for taking notes. Write the topic for each page on the margin that sticks out, AND it's fun.

Power Point presentation

Creating a flayer to persuade

I wrote VERY GENERAL guidelines in order to be able to apply them to many content/subject areas. For my third graders I would need to give more details when assigning them to the specific topic.

Project Cube
1. Cube must have 6 squares. ( Use Card stock paper) 2. Each square must have your first and last name and your classroom number on the bottom. 3. There is only one question per square? 4. Write the answers to each question on the back of each square. 5. Project should be written and decorated neatly? 6. Let the teacher grade the Questions and Answers before the cube is folded. 7. Use glue or double sided tape to put the cube together.
Comic Strips 1. Use light colored contruction paper or Microsoft PowerPoint. 2. Comic strip must have at least 5 slides. (First slide must have a Title and your first and last name.) 3. At least on character is present in the comic strip. 4. Problem must be solved in the correct order. 5. Thinking Bubbles of Text Boxes are used for dialogue. 6. Acrostic
1. Use an 8.5 X 11 Sheet of Paper. Very top needs to read your first and last name and title. (Can be typed or hand written) 2. Choose one word that describes the topic you are writing about. 3. Write each letter of the word on its own line vertically. 4. Using each letter written vertically, write a word or phrase that begins with that letter. 5. Product: Children’s Book
Objective: To introduce the subject of Chemistry to children in the age range of 6-10 years

For this assignment you will work together as a group of 4 - 5 students to research and design a bulletin board that will be displayed in class for the entire semester, so you will want to put together a board you can be proud of!
You may select your own group. Be sure to include the names (and period #) of your group on the back of your board.
You must decide who will be responsible for each component of the board. The text for the entire board may be NEATLY handwritten in ink or typed (preferred) - whichever way you decide, make the board all the same.

You will be given 15 minutes at the beginning of class on the due day to finish assembling. After that, the assignment is considered late and will be graded accordingly. The name of the economist must be emphasized and easy to see from any point in the room.
Your task is to design and create a board game suitable for teaching the concepts of supply and demand to other high school seniors. Each group will devise high level questions for the concepts. Students should try emulating the game of Monopoly, Candyland, or some other board game that will achieve the same result of higher learning. Students must blueprint six (6) categories and use every concept listed in some form. The background should be decorated with images that represent supply or demand. For example, 1 – Chart with shift in supply or demand 2 – Pictures of goods and services. Groups should not have the same categories or questions as another group. Students’ games should be unique (one of a kind). It is highly recommended that students test out their game before the unveiling of their assignment. Try to create an original and enjoyable game, because you will be teaching actual junior high students to play it. No computer paper or notebook paper will used for the construction of your game. Be sure that your game helps your peers master the concept of supply and demand!
Game Board Designers: 3 per group

When you have settled on the basic concept of your game, construct the actual game, including all its components and a set of clearly written instructions.
Task: The students will create a news broadcast over the 1950’s. Supplies: Video Camera / Digital Camera Teams: 4 to 5 students (Each student must play a role) Time: Tape should be at least 10 minutes in length and should include commercials (paid advertisement)
Students must turn in a VHS tape or CD recording of their live news broadcast.
Students must create a News (Local & World), Social, Sports, Weather, & Entertainment sections. Including slang of the 1950’s.
Some examples are: Suez crisis, the invasion of Hungary, the launch of Sputnik, downing of the U-2, Truman Doctrine, Eisenhower Doctrine, McCarthyism, Korean War, Berlin Airlift, or Marshall Plan just to name a few.

1. Students will choose either a white or colored poster board of standard size. 2. Students cannot use pens or pencils on their poster board. Students must be very creative. 3. Write in your journal whether or not you feel the senior citizen gave you some good advice. . Students will rank all responses on a scale of 1-5.
Guest Speaker
. Invite a speaker to talk about their profession . Explain to the class why you selected the speaker . You should work with the speaker and assist the speaker in presenting a powerpoint presentation. . The speaker should bring at least four items for the class to view which is job-related. . The presentation should be at least 20 minutes.
Advertisement
. Write an exciting ad about an animal that you would like to sell . Describe the animal using vivid adjectives . Draw a picture to illustrate how it looks . Include the cost . Give a location so that others will know where they can purchase the animal.

On a poster-sized chart (8.5 X 11), students create a time line of the exploration of an explorer in America. Timeline should be drawn vertical and include 8 or more entries that sequence the order of events and details of the explorers expeditions in the America. Students should include several illustrations that deal with explorer and ettings. Choose a habitat to recreate. Make sketches of how you want your diorama to look, practically plan the front, back, sides, and top. Make a base for the model out of a shoe box or other box about the size of a shoebox. Make sure your box is sturdy. If it is not the top will collapse and ruin your hard work! 3. Find small figures to go along with your scene or make them out of clay, printouts, pipe cleaners, plastic or other materials. Use your imagination - it is the best art tool! 4. Be creative. Anything you can find (cotton balls, leaves, twigs, etc.) will usually work. Make every detail count. 5. Hang flying objects with clear string such as monofilament used for fishing line, if you have it. If you don't, ribbon in the same color as the background will work as well.

1.Take one pre-made flipbook from the tub. 2.On the cover page, use your markers to write the date on the upper right hand corner and then your name at the middle. 3.On the bottom of the succeeding pages, write your numbers. 4.Then cut-out pictures from the magazines and glue the corresponding number of pictures neatly to correspond to the numbers in each page. 5.When you are finished, practice writing your numbers at the back of each page.
Guidelines for a Collage (Group project, each group has four members)
1.Choose a light colored poster board. 2.Write the title (lesson of the week) neatly at the top of the poster board using your markers. 3.Cut out pictures from magazines to give meaning to the title of the collage. 4.Arrange the pictures neatly on the poster board. 5.You may write a short explanation for pictures selected. 6.Write your names at the back of the poster board. 7.Be prepared to explain your work.
Guidelines for Journal Writing
1.Write the date at the upper right hand corner of your writing journal. 2.Draw a line across the page to divide your paper into two (top and bottom) parts. 3.On the top part do your best to draw the topic assigned. Color your pictures neatly using your crayons. 4.Using your sight words and letter/sound knowledge, write neatly what your picture is all about. 5.Make at least three sentences to make your story. 6. Use one page per day. If you are not finished with your work today then you can continue with it tomorrow. 7. After you are finished you can start a new one by going to the next page. 8. Don't skip a page.
Guidelines for Label Drawing

Guidelines for Picture Dictionary
1.Use 14 8 1/2" x 11" white papers folded in half hamburger style. 2.Staple them together where they are folded. 3.Write your name on the bottom of the first page. 4.Write the title “Picture Dictionary” on the middle part of the same page, this will serve as your cover page. 5.On each corner of the succeeding pages write the letters of the alphabet in order. 6.Using your scissors carefully cut out pictures from magazines. 7.Identify each picture and glue them neatly on the page which shows the first letter of their names. 8.Write a simple sentence on each page to go with your picture. 9.Be prepared to present your work to the class.

Create a Problem: 1) Use one of the equations given 2) They must include a real, random fact. It could be cars, technology (including cell phones and TV), sports, history, etc. 3) The random fact must be used in the problem. Think about the parts you need to give for a suspension problem and the parts you need to give for a ramp problem. Do your best to make it ‘fun’ and difficult. Catapult: 1) The catapult must use a pivoting throwing arm. Sling shot, crossbow, or trebuchet type ballistic equipment are not permitted. 2) The throwing arm may not be longer than 30 cm. Three meaning ideas that I got from the course was understanding hoe different groups identify GT, 2, the importance of teaching GT students, and 3. why GT is important to everyone, but in different ways.The two ideas that I feel working with my students will be to make sure though that are higher achievers must really strive to be excellence, and make the GT students really work harder.How do I effectivley teach those that are identified in a classroom with those that are not identified, and make sure that there is enough differentiation within the instrucion for both students.

Guidelines--Comic Strip
1. TLW hand-draw a comic strip explaining why the United States of America should enter WWII on the side of the Allies.
2. Strip must include images that represent the Axis Powers (primarily Germany, Italy, Japan).
3. Poster board must be used as a display.
4. Display/presentation are weighted 50/50.
5. For maximum points, TLW must "OWN" their presentation (deliver a convincing, animated presentation and be able to answer questions from students & teacher.
Guideline for a flip book (visual)

3. Write the capital letter for the 4 letters you chose and put them on the front of the 4 flaps.
4. Put the lower case letter on the inside of the flap to match the upper case letter.
5. Cut out or draw a picture that begins with the letters that you chose and put them on the inside of the book under the matching letter.
6. It should be done in your own handwriting.

GREETING CARD FROM ONE FICTIONAL CHARACTER TO ANOTHER:

Both halves of inner card must be used for greeting. One of the halves may be an illustration by the student.
The greeting card must be signed by the character.

Before you post your product guidelines, look over the criteria - remember their purpose is to use the same guidelines through out the school year (even team teachers should be able to use these guidelines with their contents). Meaning that a song is a song whether it is used this week to reinforce what is being taught or used in 4 months with new content - the guidelines would not change. The goal of these guidelines is to save you time over the year since you only need to change content as you go. Hope that helps!

Guidelines for a flipbook:
1. Use a pre-cut flipbook provided by the teacher

3. Under each flap, neatly glue pictures cut from a magazine or drawn with crayons or colored pencils that match or describe what is on the outside of flap.
4. Write a word above picture (opposite side of flap) to tell about the picture

Guidelines for a Collage:
1. Choose a large piece of colored construction paper or poster board.

3. Find and cut out as many words and pictures as you can that tell about the title of the collage.

Guidelines for a Mobile:
1. Wire or plastic hanger, yarn and pre-cut shapes provided by teacher.
2. Use large pre-cut shapes with holes already punched to attach to hanger and connect shapes.
3. Each connecting shape must tell about the first shape that it is attached to.
4. Tie shapes to hanger and connect with yarn.
5. Write your first and last name on the back of one of the shapes.
Guidelines for a Bubble Map:
1. Use a large piece of colored construction paper and choose a different color of pre-cut circles provided by the teacher
2. Glue the correct number of circles on the construction paper to show describing parts.
3. Draw straight lines from the center circle to the outer circles.
4. Write the word to tell what is being described or draw a picture of it in the middle using crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
5. In the outer circles draw pictures, use pictures provided by teacher or cut from a magazine and glue on circles
6. If describing a life cycle, number from right to left to show order from beginning to end.
7. Write your name neatly on the back of your paper.
Timeline Guidelines

1. A clear title, they will make a timeline of themselves.
2. Timeline intervals of time are in even segments, e.g. segments are 5cm apart and equal 7 years.
3. Years or times are to be clearly identified.
4. Text attached to important dates is to be brief, topical
and to the point.
5. Pictures can be used to re-enforce information
6. Keys can be used to have other important information not
7. able to be put on the exact date.

Poem
Acrostic poem
1 Use letters in a word to start a new line of poetry. The text will describe the word.
2 Select a word as your acrostic poem theme word. Write the word vertically along the left side.
3. Come up with a phrase related to the theme word that begin with each letter of that word. Write each word or phrase next to the theme word letter.
4. Be creative and decorate your acrostic, do i ton cardboard, paper, etc. Use your creativity!
5. Students will present their acrostic poem to the class.
Flipbook
1. Read the book “I spy in the Garden” and “I spy on the Farm”
2. Fold paper to create a house.
3. Take a tripa round your house and spy things for an “I spy in my House” book.
4. Write what you spy in your book. Choose a letter for each room of your house and list the things in that room that begin with that letter.
5. Read your book to a partner/family.

Flip book
ReplyDeleteUse 4-5 sheets of paper. Lay them on top of each other with 1/4 - 1/2 inch overlap. Fold the sheets down from the top. If you need more pages, you can cut all of the pages in half except the top and bottom cover. Then set up you booklet for taking notes. Write the topic for each page on the margin that sticks out, AND it's fun.

Board Game
ReplyDeleteYour task is to design and create a board game suitable for teaching the concepts of supply and demand to other high school seniors. Each group will devise high level questions for the concepts. Students should try emulating the game of Monopoly, Candyland, or some other board game that will achieve the same result of higher learning. Students must blueprint six (6) categories and use every concept listed in some form. The background should be decorated with images that represent supply or demand. For example, 1 – Chart with shift in supply or demand 2 – Pictures of goods and services. Groups should not have the same categories or questions as another group. Students’ games should be unique (one of a kind). It is highly recommended that students test out their game before the unveiling of their assignment. Try to create an original and enjoyable game, because you will be teaching actual junior high students to play it. No computer paper or notebook paper will used for the construction of your game. Be sure that your game helps your peers master the concept of supply and demand!

Use your textbook, the library, the Internet, and any other resources that are available to you to learn about these terms and concepts.

News Broadcast

Time: Tape should be at least 10 minutes in length and should include commercials (paid advertisement)
Students must turn in a VHS tape or CD recording of their live news broadcast.
Students must create a News (Local & World), Social, Sports, Weather, & Entertainment sections. Including slang of the 1950’s.
Some examples are: Suez crisis, the invasion of Hungary, the launch of Sputnik, downing of the U-2, Truman Doctrine, Eisenhower Doctrine, McCarthyism, Korean War, Berlin Airlift, or Marshall Plan just to name a few.

1. Students will choose either a white or colored poster board of standard size.
2. Students cannot use pens or pencils on their poster board. Students must be very creative.

Timeline Report
On a poster-sized chart (8.5 X 11), students create a time line of the exploration of an explorer in America. Timeline should be drawn vertical and include 8 or more entries that sequence the order of events and details of the explorers expeditions in the America. Students should include several illustrations that deal with explorer and ettings. Habitat Diorama
On top of Diorama:

1. Choose a habitat to recreate. Make sketches of how you want your diorama to look, practically plan the front, back, sides, and top. Make the inside of the diorama look as deep and 3 dimensional as you can. Make a list of the things you will need to make your diorama. Use a variety of materials.
2. Make a base for the model out of a shoe box or other box about the size of a shoebox. Make sure your box is sturdy. If it is not the top will collapse and ruin your hard work!
3. Find small figures to go along with your scene or make them out of clay, printouts, pipe cleaners, plastic or other materials. Use your imagination - it is the best art tool!
4. Be creative. Anything you can find (cotton balls, leaves, twigs, etc.) will usually work. Make every detail count.
5. Hang flying objects with clear string such as monofilament used for fishing line, if you have it. If you don't, ribbon in the same color as the background will work as well.

Guidelines for a Math Flip book
ReplyDelete1.Take one pre-made flipbook from the tub.
2.On the cover page, use your markers to write the date on the upper right hand corner and then your name at the middle.
3.On the bottom of the succeeding pages, write your numbers.
4.Then cut-out pictures from the magazines and glue the corresponding number of pictures neatly to correspond to the numbers in each page.
5.When you are finished, practice writing your numbers at the back of each page.
Guidelines for a Collage (Group project, each group has four members)
1.Choose a light colored poster board.
2.Write the title (lesson of the week) neatly at the top of the poster board using your markers.
3.Cut out pictures from magazines to give meaning to the title of the collage.
4.Arrange the pictures neatly on the poster board.
5.You may write a short explanation for pictures selected.
6.Write your names at the back of the poster board.

Guidelines for Journal Writing
1.Write the date at the upper right hand corner of your writing journal.
2.Draw a line across the page to divide your paper into two (top and bottom) parts.

4.Using your sight words and letter/sound knowledge, write neatly what your picture is all about.

Create a Problem:

2) They must include a real, random fact. It could be cars, technology (including cell phones and TV), sports, history, etc.
3) The random fact must be used in the problem. Think about the parts you need to give for a suspension problem and the parts you need to give for a ramp problem. Do your best to make it ‘fun’ and difficult. Be creative.
4) Solve the problem in our 4-box method: List the equation used, (algebra,) substitute, (algebra,) and solution.
Catapult:
1) The catapult must use a pivoting throwing arm. Sling shot, crossbow, or trebuchet type ballistic equipment are not permitted.
2) The throwing arm may not be longer than 30 cm. This will be measured from the center of the pivot to the center of whatever holds your ballistic.
3) Designs considered unsafe will not be permitted to compete. Teachers have the right to deduct points or DQ entrants for unsafe or unsportsmanlike conduct. ALL DECISIONS BY THE TEACHER ARE FINAL.
4) Repairs and adjustments to the catapult are the sole responsibility of the entrans. NO TOOLS WILL BE PROVIDED.
5) The balistic used will be any super ball with a diameter less than 5 cm. You will receive 1 pt per "donated ball" up to 3 pts.

ReplyDeleteThree meaning ideas that I got from the course was understanding hoe different groups identify GT, 2, the importance of teaching GT students, and 3. why GT is important to everyone, but in different ways.The two ideas that I feel working with my students will be to make sure though that are higher achievers must really strive to be excellence, and make the GT students really work harder.How do I effectivley teach those that are identified in a classroom with those that are not identified, and make sure that there is enough differentiation within the instrucion for both students.
